Parent’s Criticism of DougCo School District Gets Personal

Criticism of the reform-minded Douglas County School District (DCSD) is nothing new. However, one outspoken parent, Trisha McCombs, took to Twitter to personally attack Superintendent Dr. Liz Fagen last week for not attending every high school graduation ceremony. Read the full story from The Colorado Observer here.

Differences of opinion on major policy issues is understandable and may even be expected for a school district like Douglas County that has put forth innovative reforms that have sparked controversy.
Nevertheless, these recent attacks have nothing to do with policy and have become particularly nasty. It appears McCombs is simply upset that the Superintendent didn't attend the graduation ceremony at her daughter's school, since Fagen did attend two other ceremonies that day.

Although McCombs may be unhappy with DCSD and concerned about how its decisions might affect her children’s education (albeit likely for the better), her recent tweets and blog posts appear to be focused more on bullying the Superintendent than the policies she and the district are implementing.
